U-Skills Transition Coordinator – Whanganui

U-Skills Central Schools Trades Academy delivers secondary tertiary programmes across Wairarapa, Manawatu, Whanganui and Horowhenua.

The U-Skills programmes allow senior secondary students to gain industry based unit standards while attending UCOL one or two days a week.

We are seeking a permanent Transition Coordinator on our Whanganui campus.

This part-time role (16 hours a week) supports pastoral care and general support of U-Skills students.

Key Responsibilities

Support student achievement and engagement on their programme.

Monitor transition pathways and maintain a safe learning environment.

Participate in ongoing professional development.

Qualifications & Experience

Extensive experience working with

• year olds in pastoral support services (mentoring, coaching, career advice).

Strong people and relationship building skills; ability to build a sense of whanau within the U-Skills programme.

Qualification in tertiary teaching or National Certificate in Adult Literacy and Numeracy Education Level 5 (or working toward it).

Proficient computer skills (Outlook, Word, Excel and other applications).

Excellent organisational skills and a caring nature.

Aware of cultural issues that impact learning success.
