General Fitters / Fabricators

Pace Engineering Ltd is an experienced, privately owned, mechanical engineering company.

Our well-equipped purpose-built workshops based in Taranaki, the heart of New Zealand's energy province, offers total engineering services to a broad client base.We're looking to add experienced General Fitters / Fabricators to our team in New Plymouth.To be successful in this role, you will need : A level 4 Engineering Trade Qualification or at least 3 years experience as a Fitter Welder, Fitter Turner, Metal Fabricator or equivalentTo be quality and productivity focusedProficient English communication skills, including technical EnglishThe ability to remain calm under pressureThe ability to work effectively in a team environment, as well as autonomouslyThe ability to read, understand and follow manufacturing instructions and drawingsThe ability to understand and follow verbal instructionsYou'll be responsible for performing mechanical fitting, assembly, installation, maintenance, and repair of machinery and mechanical equipment in a safe, efficient, and professional manner, ensuring quality workmanship and adherence to company and client standards.Duties and responsibilities include : Work collaboratively with Workshop Supervisors, Leading Hands, and other Pace Engineering personnel, subcontractors, and inspectors.Promote and maintain a safe and positive work environment aligned with company HSE policies and WorkSafe NZ requirements.Read and interpret mechanical drawings, specifications, and work instructions.Lay out, position, and secure parts and assemblies according to specifications, using appropriate tools.Dismantle, inspect, repair, and reassemble mechanical components and machinery.Install, align, and adjust mechanical assemblies and rotating equipment.Operate hand tools and mechanical fitting equipment safely and effectively.Conduct preventive maintenance and repairs on plant and machinery.We have a cultural environment you will be proud to be a part of and supportive management who genuinely care about our team.In return, you'll enjoy fantastic benefits and rewards including : Competitive remuneration (aligned with skills and experience)A supportive team environmentA great team culture with opportunities for developmentA full time permanent position (guaranteed minimum 40 hours per week)Pay rate of $33 - $40 per hour, reflective of skills and experiencePLUS if you're looking for a lifestyle change, we have great scenic views, epic mountain trails, miles of coastline, vibrant urban centres and reasonable living costs, making Taranaki one of the most appealing places to live and work in New Zealand.To apply, please quote Reference Number
