Community Broker Waitakere Ranges Local Board

Auckland Council's Community Brokers work to create strong resilient communities and drive the achievement of local board priorities through the objectives of Kia Ora Tamaki Makaurau and Nga Hapori Momoho, the council's key strategies for improving community wellbeing outcomes.

Day to day your responsibilities will include :

Supporting Maori and Community Initiatives to enhance community wellbeing.

Providing strategic insights and leadership, connecting council, community, and elected members to foster positive change.

Relationship brokering, building and maintaining strong relationships with community delivery teams, local board members, and diverse cultural organizations.

Serving as a trusted source of local intelligence and advice, ensuring equitable outcomes through informed decision-making.

This dynamic role offers diverse and exciting opportunities to make a difference to Auckland communities.

This is a permanent opportunity, 40 hours per week, based in Waitakere Local Board area with requirements to travel around the communities you will be working with.

To be successful in this role you will need :

Community Development Expertise :

Significant experience in community development best practices, ideally with a tertiary qualification and grassroots as well as senior advisory experience.

Relationship Building and Collaboration :

Proven effectiveness in building relationships and collaborating in complex, place-based environments to achieve community outcomes.

Analytical and Strategic Thinking :

Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills, with excellent written and verbal communication abilities.

Flexibility and Self-Management :

High flexibility and ability to self-manage, including attending community events or meetings outside of normal working hours.

A full NZ driver's licence or independent travel capability.

This role is a band H, we would be looking to appoint the successful candidate at a salary of between $102 - $120K dependant on experience.
