Passionate about conservation?
Want to ensure Wellington's new forests thrive?
Enjoy being part of a motivated team with ongoing training and development provided?
Wellington's open spaces and natural areas are a defining part of what makes our city unique.
They're well used, well loved, and central to the quality of life and sense of place that Wellingtonians and visitors value so highly.
At the heart of this connection with nature is Berhampore Nursery – an award-winning facility producing over 100,000 eco-sourced native plants each year.
These plants support the restoration of our city's parks and reserves, contribute to threatened species recovery, and play a vital role in our urban horticulture and gardens programmes.
We're looking for a Nursery Horticulturist to join our passionate team.
If you're enthusiastic about plants and every stage of their production – from seed to site – this could be the role for you.
In this role, you'll be involved in :
Seed collection, propagation, growing, plant monitoring and dispatch
Ground maintenance across the nursery site
Operating and maintaining nursery machinery and equipment.
You'll bring :
A qualification in horticulture or proven hands-on industry experience
Biosecurity awareness in a nursery environment
Current Growsafe certificate – training can be provided
A strong team focus and the ability to work collaboratively to achieve great outcomes
Excellent communication skills
A commitment to health and safety
A current driver's licence.
If you're passionate about native plants and want to make a difference to Wellington's environment, we'd love to hear from you.
