About the RACP The Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP) connects, represents, and trains physicians and trainee physicians across Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand.

The RACP provides services to support the delivery of training, continuing professional development, and health policy and advocacy to medical health professionals.

As part of our commitment to supporting Maori health equity and workforce development, we are excited to offer a unique opportunity for an Advanced Trainee to join our team as the Maori Health Registrar – Hauora Maori.

This is a part-time (0.5 FTE) position designed to be undertaken alongside clinical advanced training (0.5 FTE), forming a combined full-time role over a one-year term.

You will advise on and support initiatives that promote equity, wellbeing, and success for Maori trainees, ensuring access to culturally safe environments and appropriate support mechanisms.

Your lived experience and insights will help inform continuous improvement efforts and strategic priorities that reflect the aspirations of Maori trainees.

With the leadership and guidance of the Lead Fellow Maori Health and the Tumuaki / Head of Maori and Equity, the Maori Health Registrar will draw on the their experiences and Maori trainee journey to provide advice to the Hauora Maori team, and the Maori Health Committee to inform and support initiative to advance Hauora Maori \ Maori Health, cultural safety and health equity.

You'll also collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure our work is responsive, effective, and aligned with the College's strategic outcomes and the needs of Maori trainees and their communities.

Key responsibilities include : Support and Mentorship for the trainee journey : Contribute knowledge, lived experience and relational support to strengthen the trainee journey.

This includes supporting culturally safe environments and participating in mentorship efforts for trainees.

Initiatives and Policy support : Support the Hauora Maori team in progressing initiatives and policies that reflect the key priorities of the Indigenous Strategic Framework (ISF).

Relationship Building : participate in College committees, working groups, and projects to build and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Participation : Engage with relevant College committees, working groups and projects, contributing to continuous improvement efforts that support a culturally safe and Event Organisation : Support the planning and delivery of key events for Maori members such as the annual Trainee Wananga, the biennial Maori Health Hui, and other culturally significant gatherings.

Submissions and Reports : Contribute to the preparation of submissions, briefing papers and reports to inform decision-making on Hauora Maori.

The Successful Candidate The successful candidate will be an RACP Advanced Trainee / Registrar who identifies as Maori, with a strong grounding in Te Ao Maori and understanding of Maori health.

The candidate will also possess the following skills and attributes : Demonstrated ability to build positive and constructive relationships with internal and external stakeholders to progress work priorities.

Demonstrates a cooperative, positive attitude and high standards of ethical behaviour.

Demonstrated high level of written and verbal communication skills.

Sound judgement and decision-making capability, in the context of a complex working environment with high levels of uncertainty and conflicting stakeholder views.

Ability to prioritise and manage deadlines.
