- Reporting to the Manager Workplace Technology and Platforms, you'll work closely with customers to develop and deliver sustainable products and services that support both tactical and strategic outcomes.
You'll set the vision and roadmap for data products, information management, and enterprise reporting—ensuring alignment with Customs' organisational strategy.You'll lead a team of 11 permanent staff and contractors, driving improvements and overseeing the delivery of products and services within the Data & Information Management portfolio.
Key Responsibilities...Develop and drive the product roadmap for data and information services.Lead and inspire a team to deliver high-quality outcomes.Engage with stakeholders to understand needs and translate organisational priorities into actionable plans.Oversee the full product lifecycle, from planning to delivery.Champion best practices in Data, information management and business intelligence.This role is part of a rotational oncall roster, typically one week in eight.What You'll Work On...Data :We have an exciting project underway, building a new Microsoft Fabric Data platform, to replace our legacy platform and services.This role is the primary owner of delivering this initiative, modernising, transforming our Data capability to meet current and future needs of our agency across regulatory reporting requirements.
Business Intelligence :Linked to the Data program, replacing legacy reporting with modern, cloud-based solutions using Microsoft Fabric and Power Bi.The team works in agile sprints, using Azure DevOps and a requirements-led approach to deliver value for both internal and external stakeholders.
Information Management :Leading our information management practice, driving policy, process, governance and assurance.We're looking for someone with...Preferred Significant (at least 5 years) Data Product management experience in a complex enterprise environment, Leading Teams and strategyDesired Significant experience leading an Information Management team / function / service.Proven ability to achieve results through people and teams.Experience translating organisational priorities into strategies and plans.Strong people leadership experience, direct people management (have Managed Teams), including managing employment issues and leading change.Experience leading and running and operational teams and services.Project delivery experience.Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills, with a focus on innovation and risk management.Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, including public speaking and stakeholder engagement.Financial literacy and commercial acumen.Experience building relationships and partnerships across government and industry.At Customs, you'll enjoy :Flexible working arrangements and three extra service leave days.On-the-job training, formal courses, and leadership programmes.Opportunities to move across diverse roles.An inclusive, supportive team environment with vibrant social and cultural groups.Discounted health insurance, free on-site gyms (in some locations), and generous leave entitlements.How to Apply...To join Customs, you must be aNew Zealand Citizen or New Zealand Permanent Residentand be able to obtain and maintain an appropriate level of security clearance to a Secret clearance level.Due to the nature of Customs work you must have a clear Police record.
