Role Overview
- Work in mainstream schools and specialist schools to support DHH students, whānau and staff.
- Engage with your caseload, maintain record‑keeping and liaise with families and whānau.
- Assist with student participation and success in education and life outcomes.
Responsibilities
Provide ongoing support to Deaf and DHH students across assigned schools.Collaborate with teachers, administrators and support staff to design individualized learning plans.Maintain accurate records and report progress to families and school teams.Develop and provide professional development for staff on NZSL and best practices.Travel within the designated caseload covering Manurewa, Onehunga and surrounding waters.Qualifications
Qualified Teacher of the Deaf or an experienced NZ registered teacher.Proven best practice and experience working with Deaf children and / or mainstream pupils.Current, clean driver’s licence and ability to use own car with mileage reimbursement (or lease car).Willingness to develop proficiency in New Zealand Sign Language (NZSL) and listening and spoken language practices for DHH learners.Must reside within easy access to the advertised region.Application
