Principal Legal Counsel (Legislation) – Reserve Bank of New Zealand

Overview

As the Reserve Bank welcomes its new Governor, we are seeking a Principal Legal Counsel to support nationally significant workstreams.

Responsibilities

Provide strategic, technical and expert guidance in the implementation of the Deposit Takers Act

Coordinate, manage, and directly contribute to the legislative drafting process across 15 prudential standards and other DTA-related activities.

Deliver robust, high-quality legislation supporting the Reserve Bank's regulatory objectives.

Qualifications & Experience

Thought-leadership skills with high initiative and judgement.

Significant legal experience handling challenging legal problems.

Analytical and critical thinking, sound judgement in complex, ambiguous, urgent, high-risk situations.

Sound knowledge of financial services, corporate law, and the theory and practice of legislation and regulation.

Ability to handle pressure, manage demands and maintain confidence of multiple stakeholders.

Influencing skills and strategic implementation of outcomes.

Relevant legal qualification and eligibility to hold a New Zealand practising certificate.
