About the Role
We invite expressions of interest from generalist Orthopaedic Surgeons for future roles at Timaru Hospital.
The team comprises five surgeons serving a 131-bed hospital, supported by three Registrars (one in training), who handle first call during business hours and some weekends.
The department employs an interdisciplinary approach, including physiotherapy services, parallel clinics, in-house hand therapy, and a Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) supporting case management, nurse-led clinics, arthroplasty monitoring, and complex casting.
Elective and acute case scheduling are managed by the CNS Orthopaedics.
About You
This is a generalist position requiring skills in upper and lower limb procedures, general orthopaedic trauma, and the ability to undertake hip and knee arthroplasty.
Work environments include theatre and outpatient clinics.
The FTE is negotiable.
Working hours are generally between 8 : 00 am and 6 : 00 pm, Monday to Friday, with on-call duties.
The after-hours roster is approximately 1 : 5-1 : 6, covering weekends and public holidays.
