Your Role and Purpose

As a Principal Planning Consultant, you’ll play a pivotal role in guiding clients through statutory processes, delivering strategic planning advice, mentoring and supporting emerging planners and championing sustainable outcomes. You’ll build long-term relationships with clients and colleagues, contribute to transformative projects, and help shape the future of planning in New Zealand.

What You’ll Bring

We’re looking for someone who is passionate about infrastructure and environmental planning, with a strong understanding of the New Zealand planning system and legislation (especially the Resource Management Act). You’ll bring :

  • A relevant degree in planning or resource management
  • 12+ years experience in planning / resource management, with a strong understanding of the RMA
  • Experience working within a multi-disciplinary consultancy environment
  • Experience leading the consenting of large-scale infrastructure projects
  • Strong communication skills—both written and verbal
  • A relationship focused mindset and collaborative spirit
  • NZPI full membership and expert witness / hearing experience is desirable
