Stuff Digital is dedicated to telling the unique and essential stories of Aotearoa. We’re at the forefront of digital journalism, and we’re looking for an Interactive Designer to elevate our work through development, design and technology.

About The Role

As an Interactive Designer, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping storytelling at Stuff. Working closely with our editorial, growth and product teams, you’ll design and deliver innovative digital storytelling projects and interactive visualisations that inform, engage and empower our audiences.

This fixed-term role is central to Stuff’s coverage of major national events, including the 2026 New Zealand election. You’ll combine the rigour of reporting with design, coding and AI tools to create journalism that’s both compelling and credible.

What You’ll Do

• Use design, code and AI to uncover, analyse and present unique stories that connect with audiences.
• Design and deliver interactive visualisations and projects that bring complex information to life.
• Collaborate with reporters, editors, designers and developers to ensure accuracy, transparency and impact.
• Build tools, workflows and systems that support scalable, sustainable digital journalism.
• Contribute to a positive, collaborative newsroom culture where innovation and integrity thrive.
