Equity and Student WellbeingLocated in Otautahi | Christchurch, Aotearoa | New ZealandPart-time 22.5 hours per week (0.6 FTE)Permanent position working Tuesdays, Wednesdays and FridaysGenerous annual leave provisions and professional development opportunitiesAu Mahi | What You Will DoUtilising your considerable experience in engaging with a wide variety of clients, you will be responsible for providing accessible counselling services to UC students.This can be delivered via a variety of different interventions but with a focus on brief interventions that are time-limited, using 30-minute appointments, and will include advising students on wider UC services and the process for engagement in the full sessional counselling service.You will aim to meet the holistic needs of students, and liaison with colleagues both within and external to the Health Centre will be crucial.Mou | Who You AreYou will have a bachelor's degree or higher in Counselling as well as holding a current registration and professional membership.Along with this you will have : A commitment to contributing to improving health equityExcellent record keeping, case note and report writing skillsThe ability to engage with clients from diverse cultures and backgroundsThe ability to work autonomously within a multi-disciplinary team of health practitionersThe Interpersonal skills to be able to work effectively in a consultative and team environmentHave knowledge of relevant legislation and regulationsProficiency in using Microsoft 365, particularly Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint - experience using a Practice Management System such as MedTech would be advantageousMahi Ngatahi | Who You Will Work WithThe Health Centre is a clinic devoted to providing excellent Medical, Counselling and Related Services to the Students and wider community of the University of Canterbury, thereby enhancing the identity and wellbeing of that Community - The team comprises doctors, nurses, counsellors, practice manager, administrator, receptionists, health coaches, and a health improvement practitioner.Nga Painga o UC | Why UCNga Uara | Our Values of manaakitanga, whanaungatanga and tiakitanga guide our decisions and behaviour and provide a roadmap for how we do things at UC, affirming our commitment to pastoral care and support for our akonga and staff.
