You will be working in a small team, responsible independently for a private land base area, developing and delivering a full range of professional forestry operational management skills, including timber harvesting layout and reconnaissance, harvest supervision, silviculture supervision, and road development and supervision.You will oversee one forest operation on a land-base in the West Kootenay area, covering several thousand hectares with an annual cut objective of 10,000 to 20,000 m3.
Support to colleagues in other operational areas will be provided as needed.Our operations emphasize selective harvesting techniques, including layout and reconnaissance skills, and the training and implementation of these systems with our contractor base.
A commitment to sustainable forest management principles is essential.You will report to a senior forest and business manager and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of forestry, business, and accounting staff.
