Primary Purpose
The Project Manager is responsible for delivering engineering and infrastructure projects to meet contractual obligations across multiple operations and maintenance business units, with a primary focus on water and wastewater projects in Wellington. The role involves full lifecycle project delivery—from investigation and design through to procurement, construction, and commissioning—while ensuring compliance with quality, budget, and timeline requirements.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Engineering (Mechanical or Process preferred).
Experience
Minimum 5 years’ project management experience in water or wastewater infrastructure.Proven ability to deliver projects up to $2M in value.Demonstrated experience across investigation, design, construction, procurement, and commissioning.Familiarity with project delivery frameworks such as PMI, Prince2, or Agile.Experience working in a client‑facing environment and managing multiple stakeholders.Understanding of commercial and contracting models (e.g., NZS3910 : 2013, NZS3916 : 2013).Technical & Professional Skills
Strong ability to work across multiple engineering disciplines.Knowledge of construction practices related to water / wastewater treatment and reticulation.Understanding of operations and maintenance for water / wastewater assets.Competence in QA systems (ISO9001, ISO14001).Strong literacy, numeracy, computing, and reporting skills.Key Responsibilities
Project Delivery
Manage all project phases from initiation through closure.Lead technical and project management activities, including scoping, assessment, design, planning, scheduling, and delivery.Oversee on‑site project execution, monitoring progress, quality, safety, and timelines.Conduct procurement processes and manage contractor / supplier engagement.Prepare and present internal approvals, engineering proposals, tender submissions, and project documentation.Maintain accurate project tracking, including budgets, Earned Value Analysis, and Gantt updates.Identify risks and develop effective mitigation strategies.Resolve engineering and project delivery issues promptly.Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement
Work effectively across multiple engineering disciplines (mechanical, civil, process, electrical).Maintain strong relationships with clients, contractors, suppliers, and internal teams.Lead multidisciplinary project teams to achieve desired outcomes.Support continuous development within the project team.Contribute to business development and growth opportunities.Compliance & Systems
