In this role as Senior Integration Engineer you will play a pivotal role in delivering robust, scalable integration solutions on our new integration platform. You will contribute hands‑on expertise in cloud‑native technologies, modern software engineering practices, and integration patterns to connect systems and streamline operations across TVNZ's digital ecosystem.
You will work collaboratively with the Integration Lead, architects, developers, and business stakeholders to design and implement integrations that are secure, reliable, and aligned with TVNZ's strategy. You will also contribute to modernising legacy integrations, mentoring developers, and embedding best practices into the integration engineering discipline.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain integrations using AWS‑native services and TypeScript in line with platform standards and architectural guidance.
- Lead the migration of iPaaS‑based and legacy on‑prem integrations to the new Integration Platform.
- Mentor junior developers on clean code practices, modular design, and AWS development.
- Contribute to shaping the future state of TVNZ’s integration architecture, including the use of event‑driven and microservices‑based approaches.
- Develop and enforce reusable integration components and coding standards aligned with TVNZ’s integration framework.
- Collaborate with architects, platform engineers, and security to ensure scalable, observable, and secure integration solutions.
- Work closely with stakeholders across teams to clarify integration requirements, timelines, and acceptance criteria.
- Lead proof‑of‑concept development and evaluate new tools, patterns, or approaches for integration.
- Participate in governance practices, including naming conventions, versioning strategies, and API lifecycle management.
- Provide production support and lead incident resolution or root cause analysis when needed.
Qualifications
Strong hands‑on experience with AWS services including Lambda, API Gateway, Step Functions, SQS / SNS, EventBridge, etc.Proficient in TypeScript for backend integration development.Advanced understanding of design patterns, modular code, and object‑oriented programming (OOP).Experience building and managing REST APIs, event‑driven services, and microservices.Skilled in automated testing (TDD / BDD) using frameworks like Jest, Mocha, or similar.Solid understanding of software engineering principles (e.g., SOLID, OOP), code modularization.Deep familiarity with CI / CD tools (GitHub Actions, AWS CodePipeline) and deployment automation.Ability to implement Infrastructure as Code using CDK, CloudFormation, or Terraform.Strong experience with performance monitoring, logging (CloudWatch / X‑Ray), and secure coding practices.Excellent collaboration skills with multi‑disciplinary teams including DevOps, QA, data, and product.Contract
This is a 12‑month fixed‑term contract.
