Engineering / Computer Vision Summer Intern

About the Role
You’ll be part of our Engineering Team. You will be primarily responsible for our Summer Intern Project, which is to explore a novel use of computer vision technology. In addition to this project, from time to time you’ll also work alongside our experienced engineers to help clients with projects in aerospace, science, and more.
Your role will include :
- Researching computer vision algorithms
- Selecting and calibrating suitable hardware for system development
- Implementing computer vision algorithms such as stereo vision and blob detection.
- Writing software to execute and test computer vision algorithms
- Documenting software and project decisions to facilitate future work
- Collecting and analysing data to make project decisions
- Using your innovative mind and engineering skill set
- Reporting to the Lead Engineer on a regular basis
- Testing algorithms and methods
This is a full-time professional summer internship for 10 weeks of work. We are flexible as to when the ideal candidate can start; we are aiming for a start date of 20th November.
About You
We’re looking for a talented candidate working towards a computer science, computer engineering or mechatronics engineering degree, with sound programming skills and a basic understanding of computer vision.
You will :
Have the ability to work independently and take initiativeBe confident working with tight and sometimes changing deadlinesBe currently enrolled in, or have recently completed a degree (or equivalent in one of the following fields) : Computer Science Computer Engineering Mechatronics Engineering Electrical Engineering Any other degree / program provided you have the necessary skillsBe proficient in C and / or Python for a windows environmentHave an understanding of the basics of computer vision and a desire to improve those skillsHave great interpersonal and communication skillsTo really blow our sock off, you would have :
Experience with OpenCV or similar frameworksA passion for tinkering and getting systems workingAn interest in writing testing plansExperience programming embedded systems in CElectrical / Electronics Engineering experience pertaining to Printed Circuit Boards and / or Power ElectronicsA passion for discovery and self-driven learningAbility to self-organise and manage competing prioritiesIf this sounds like you, we’d love to hear from you.
