The Business Manager is responsible for managing the day-to-day operational, commercial and administrative functions of WHGS Limited. This includes business development, client onboarding, financial coordination, subcontractor engagement, and overseeing company-wide systems. The role works closely with the Multi-Site Manager, who oversees site-level service delivery and staffing across all cleaning and maintenance locations.
The Business Manager acts as the Director and ensures business continuity in their absence.
Job Description :
Ensures smooth day-to-day functioning of the business.
Develops and maintains operational systems, procedures and company processes.
Coordinates with the Multi-Site Manager to ensure service delivery requirements are met.
Monitors business performance, workload distribution and operational efficiency.
Ensures subcontractor documentation, onboarding and compliance are maintained.
Manages client onboarding, service agreements and commercial setup.
Supports the Multi-Site Manager by handling escalated client issues or commercial concerns.
Maintains ongoing communication with major clients regarding contracts, renewals and service scope.
Builds long-term partnerships with key clients for business retention.
Identifies new business opportunities and prepares proposals, quotes and tenders.
Attends networking events, trade meetings and promotions to acquire clients.
Conducts market research to identify service expansion areas.
Collaborates with the Director on pricing strategy, service packages and marketing direction.
Manages subcontractor onboarding, agreements and compliance requirements.
Works with the Multi-Site Manager regarding subcontractor allocation and performance updates.
Maintains subcontractor records, insurance and certifications.
Oversees administrative workflows including scheduling overview, documentation and contract files.
Supports invoicing, cost tracking, supplier payments and financial record management.
Prepares business performance reports, operational summaries and forecasts for the Director.
Ensures all business compliance documentation is up to date.
Handles all business communication, decision-making and coordination when required.
Represents WHGS Limited with clients, suppliers and external stakeholders.
Provides operational leadership and guidance to internal staff and the Multi-Site Manager when necessary.
Skills and Experience Required
NZQF Level 4 qualification in business, management or relevant field OR at least 2 years of relevant experience in business operations, cleaning services management, facilities, property services or similar sector.
Prior Experience in client relationship management is preferred.
Strong operational and leadership skills with the ability to manage multiple sites.
Excellent communication, negotiation and problem-solving abilities.
Familiarity with New Zealand workplace health and safety standards.
Ability to work independently and make operational decisions.
Additional Requirements :
Clean Full New Zealand Driver Licence.
Willingness to undergo drug and alcohol testing as required.
Availability to work on call, including weekends or after-hours when needed.

Employment Details :
