Research Engineer - Wireless, RF and Antenna Systems
National University of Singapore – Queenstown
The National University of Singapore is Singapore’s national research university, founded in 1905 and recognized for its contributions to higher education.
Job Description
We are seeking a motivated Research Engineer to join our team working on novel wireless communication and sensing technologies. The role involves developing and testing compact RF systems integrated within flexible platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and test low‑power wireless communication systems (e.g., radio and short‑range audio / data transmission); design and optimize antenna‑circuit coupling; build and characterize system prototypes for flexible platforms.
- Contribute to passive RFID projects : design and simulate antennas for commercial RFID + temperature sensor tags; integrate sensor tags with commercial RFID readers for wireless data acquisition and testing.
- Support R&D on wireless power transfer using compact or fiber‑like antenna structures.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, RF / Microwave Engineering, or a related field.Experience with RF circuit design, antenna design, or wireless system integration; hands‑on skills in PCB prototyping, impedance matching, and RF measurement.Familiarity with RF simulation tools (e.g., CST, HFSS, ADS or similar); strong experimental mindset and ability to work independently on system‑level design.Preferred : Knowledge of passive RFID systems, communication protocols, and reader integration; experience with low‑power wireless systems (BLE, NFC, LoRa); understanding of embedded systems or microcontroller‑based data acquisition.Additional Information
