We’re on the lookout for a sharp, decisive Technical Team Lead to join our Whakatu Packhouse team.
In this fixed-term role, you’ll oversee the efficient functioning of our packhouse technology, ensuring fruit is allocated correctly, systems are running smoothly, and production targets are met. This is a hands‑on, fast‑paced role at the heart of shed operations, where your decisions directly influence how our product moves to market.
What you’ll be doing
As the Technical Team Lead, you’ll work closely with other team leads to ensure the smooth running of the packhouse. You’ll be responsible for setting up product lines, managing shed speed from fruit intake to carton output, and supporting staff placement and equipment control.
- Allocating fruit to packing lanes based on market requirements
- Operating computer systems to manage product flow
- Monitoring production volumes and fruit movement throughout the shed
- Assigning packaging and labelling based on fruit sizes
- Following Packhouse startup procedures
- Monitoring data to ensure finished cartons meet optimal weight standards
- Responding to commands via earpiece and solving problems quickly
- Learning and applying knowledge of different market specifications
- Working alongside the Quality and Line Teams to ensure fruit meets high standards
- Setting the pace for shed operations and supporting overall efficiency
- Collaborating with key stakeholders including Production, Line, and Quality Team Leads
