About the role

The role involves overseeing the day-to-day operations of the theatre department, providing leadership and support to a team of registered nurses, and ensuring efficient and effective patient care is delivered to the highest standards. Lead, mentor and support whilst providing hands on theatre assistance when required.

What you have to do

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the theatre department, ensuring efficient and effective patient care is delivered to the highest standards
  • Provide leadership and support to the team of registered nurses, including coaching and mentoring to ensure professional development
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure optimal patient outcomes
  • Manage inventory and equipment to ensure the department has the necessary supplies and equipment required for patient care
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient outcomes
  • Maintain accurate documentation and ensure compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards
  • Support and participate in the continuous professional development of the theatre department staff
  • Be able to scrub in when needed
  • Skills and Experience

  • Current NZ registration and APC. Candidates will only be considered with these requirements or a CAP course letter
  • At least 2 years of experience as a registered nurse in a theatre department
  • Proven leadership and management skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work well under pressure and manage competing priorities
  • Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to maintain accurate documentation and ensure compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards
