Engineering Geologist

As our new Engineering Geologist based in Te Whanganui-a-Tara / Wellington, you’ll be a vital part of the Ground & Underground Engineering and NZ Transport team. You will play an integral part in a team of highly skilled specialists that ‘bring ideas to life’ for our clients across all types of infrastructure projects – from planning, investigation, geohazard assessments and characterisation through to designs for geohazards.

Here are the key things you will do to ‘bring ideas to life’ :

Bring experience in Engineering Geology to Aurecon opportunities and projects.

Apply your understanding of New Zealand’s geology, codes of practice, and industry standards to deliver smart, sustainable solutions.

Tackle real-world problems with a practical mindset and a collaborative approach.

Communicate your insights clearly, whether it’s through technical reports, project updates, or client presentations.

Use your industry connections and stakeholder skills to grow relationships, uncover opportunities, and help shape a resilient future for our clients.

What are we looking for from you?

You’ll have a genuine passion for re-imagining problems and continuous learning to help shape the future.

In addition to 3–6 years of experience in a similar New Zealand-based role, you will also bring :

A tertiary qualification in Engineering Geology or Geology (we are open to accepting broader Geology experience)

Proven track record in engineering geological assessments and design for infrastructure projects

Broad range of experience in geological mapping, site investigations and detailed logging and sampling of soil and rock core.

Ability to work collaboratively both internally within Aurecon and with our clients.

Excellent written and oral communication skills.
