Our small, growing team is currently managing a range of projects across the North Island, and we're looking for a talented graduate to join us.About the RoleWe are seeking a recent engineering graduate to support asset maintenance scheduling on a fixed-term 4-month contract (with the potential to extend up to 8 months).
This is an administrative support role (non-engineering design) where your technical knowledge will be invaluable.
Immediate start is required, and the role is based in New Plymouth, working closely with our client on a project nearing completion.
You will help ensure that all asset information and maintenance plans are correctly captured for the handover phase.Key responsibilities include : Inputting and transferring asset data from spreadsheets into the client's maintenance management system (initially Excel-based, then into the dedicated system once available).
Creating preventive maintenance schedules for equipment in accordance with Operations & Maintenance (O&M) manuals, engineering documentation, and project requirements.Liaising directly with the client's team to verify asset details and ensure accuracy and completeness of information.Providing general administrative support where required with a strong focus on detail, quality, and consistency in documentation.Skills and ExperienceTo succeed in this role, you will have : Qualifications : A Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Mechanical, Electrical, or Process Engineering.
Recent graduates are encouraged to apply.Technical Understanding : Ability to interpret P&IDs (Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams), technical drawings, and O&M manuals.
Familiarity with industrial equipment such as pumps, valves, and control systems is essential.Attention to Detail : Exceptional accuracy in data entry and documentation, ensuring maintenance records and schedules are error-free and comprehensive.Computer Skills : Proficiency with spreadsheet software (e. g. Microsoft Excel) and an ability to quickly learn and use maintenance management systems.Communication : Strong written and verbal communication skills with the confidence to liaise with client representatives and ask clarifying questions.Work Eligibility : Legal right to work in New Zealand (NZ citizenship, residency, or valid work visa) is mandatory.Joining The Western Edge Limited in this role offers : Competitive Hourly Rate : An all-inclusive hourly rate including 8% holiday pay, pay as you go for fixed term contracts.Initial Training : Onboarding and guidance will be provided to get you up to speed with our client's processes and maintenance management system.Experience & Growth : Hands-on experience in asset maintenance planning for a major project, which will be a great boost to your engineering career.
