This is a full-time permanent position, at least 30 hours work per week is guarenteed.
Position Summary :
The Bricklayer will be responsible for constructing and repairing walls, foundations, partitions, arches, and other structures using bricks, concrete blocks, and other masonry materials. This role requires high attention to detail, physical strength, and the ability to work efficiently as part of a construction team to deliver high-quality building projects.
Key Responsibilities :
- Interpret and follow building plans, blueprints, and specifications to determine the layout and requirements of brickwork.
- Prepare and mix mortar or other bonding materials to the required consistency.
- Lay bricks, blocks, and other masonry units in straight and uniform rows with proper alignment, spacing, and structural integrity.
- Shape and cut bricks using hammers, power tools, or hand tools to fit around obstacles such as pipes, openings, or corners.
- Repair and replace damaged bricks or masonry structures as required.
- Check vertical and horizontal alignment of structures using plumb lines, spirit levels, and other measuring tools.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment by following health and safety regulations.
- Work collaboratively with other tradespeople, site supervisors, and project managers to meet construction deadlines.
- Operate and maintain masonry tools and equipment in good working condition.
- Load, unload, and move materials and equipment safely around the construction site.
Skills and Qualifications :
At least two years of relevant experience in the construction industry.Knowledge of bricklaying techniques, tools, and safety practices.Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and construction plans.Good physical stamina and strength to handle heavy materials and work outdoors.Strong attention to detail and precision in workmanship.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Understanding of New Zealand building codes and safety regulations is an advantage.
