Rutherford Street Kindergarten provides high-quality early childhood education and care for children living in Nelson city and surrounding suburbs.

As a not-for-profit, community-based centre with a licence of 32 children, we are dedicated to creating a respectful, nurturing environment where kaiako and whānau work collaboratively to ensure each child is empowered to reach their full potential.

We are now seeking a centre manager to lead the centre and team during a 12-month maternity leave position starting mid-November 2025.

About the role

As the centre manager, you’re responsible for the overall leadership and daily operations of the centre, reporting to the board of trustees and ensuring a safe, nurturing and high-quality learning environment.

This is a full-time, 40 hour per week position where your time will be split between teaching on the floor alongside your team and completing tasks to fulfil your role as centre manager including managing enrolments, rosters, budgets, and other administrative tasks alongside the office administrator.

Applicants for this position will need to hold an early childhood education qualification recognised in New Zealand and current full registration .
