Due to an internal promotion, we have an exciting opportunity to join our Life Underwriting team in the position of Senior Underwriter. This role will include servicing our existing life business and provide a professional, leading edge underwriting service to clients and intermediaries as well as providing quality advice on underwriting matters within agreed company guidelines and philosophy. This will require the use of sound underwriting knowledge to put the customer at the forefront of every interaction.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Providing a professional underwriting service to clients and Advisers.
  • Providing quality advice on risk assessment matters within agreed company guidelines and philosophy.
  • Providing relationship management to Asteron’s key distribution channels, and
  • Ability to work well under pressure
  • ALUCA qualifications and Insurance Institute studies are desirable

What we are looking for :

  • At least 7 years of Life Underwriting experience
  • Provide expert underwriting service to a panel of advisers.
  • Provides expert underwriting opinions as required to claims, and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Provides input into the overall underwriting strategy
  • Ensures that intermediary and client expectations are met or exceeded in respect to underwriting
  • Ensures that the underwriting process is applied consistently and to the agreed standard of Reinsurance Treaties
  • Develops and maintains relationships with intermediaries and reinsurers at all levels
  • Working collaboratively across New Business and Underwriting to improve onboarding.
