Nelson City Council is on the lookout for a Utilities Engineering Officer – Telemetry to take charge of our SCADA and utilities data management systems.
This is your chance to play a key role in managing essential water, wastewater, stormwater, and flood protection services—helping to keep our city connected, resilient, and future-focused.
About the role | Ko tenei turanga mahi
In this role, you will :
Maintain Nelson City's telemetry and utilities data management systems to ensure best-practice application and reliable data.
Manage and monitor contractors operating SCADA and Telemetry equipment.
Contribute to a variety of capital and operational projects, providing advice on telemetry requirements.
Utilise and maintain Council's asset management system,
Infor
, and support improvements in data management.

We're looking for a
Utilities Engineering Officer
with experience in telemetry, or someone with transferable skills from IT, structural, technical, civil, or electrical engineering.
You will bring :
Knowledge and experience working in engineering industries.
Ability to oversee the operation and maintenance of Council asset management systems.
Experience managing and administering utilities maintenance contracts.
Skills in managing, designing, and reviewing a variety of capital and operational projects.
Technical expertise to support the utilities team, wider council, and activity managers in developing business cases.
Competence in managing and monitoring databases, systems, and telemetry equipment.
A willingness to grow and develop, with training opportunities available for those with transferable experience.
