About the Role
We have an
exciting opportunity for a Mental Health Support Worker to join our multidisciplinary
inpatient team.
You will be
joining an established team dedicated to improving health outcomes for our
tangata whaiora and whanau.
You will be working under the delegation of a
Registered Nurse and working with individual tangata whaiora to support them in
activities of daily living, assist with observations to support our assessment
processes and ensure routine clinical and non-clinical tasks are completed as
required on a day to day basis.
You will be flexible and willing to work
collaboratively as part of a team to provide quality care and assessment to
meet identified client needs.
About the
Team / Service Location
The Mental Health Service Older Persons (MHSOP) is a mental health
specialty service.
The service is primarily community based and provides
specialist assessment, treatment and rehabilitation services for people experiencing
mental health needs in later life.
The inpatient unit and community team are
located in the same building on the Kenepuru Community Hospital campus.
About you
You will be
flexible and willing to work collaboratively as part of a team to provide
quality care and assessment to meet identified client needs.
Additionally, the ideal candidate will have : -
' Experience
of providing care to older adults with mental health needs or an interest
developing skills, experience in this specialty area.
' Meet
minimum training requirements having completed or in the process or completing
National Certificate in Mental Health & Wellbeing Support (Level 4) or
equivalent.
' Demonstrate
ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively with other professionals.
' Be
solution focused with excellent time management skills and the ability to
effectively and efficiently complete tasks.
' Excellent
communication and interpersonal skills and proven ability to engage people at
all levels.
' A commitment to applying principles of Te Tiriti O
Waitangi and to improving equitable health outcomes of the
community our service serves.
