Activity Facilitator Mental Health Inpatient Acute UnitActivities Facilitator / Allied Health Assistant Mental Health Inpatient Unit, Rotorua Permanent, Part time (0.8FTE), rostered over 7-day periodWe are looking for a dynamic and motivated Activities Facilitator / Allied Health Assistant to join our multi-disciplinary team at Whare Whakaue Acute Inpatient Mental Health Unit in Rotorua Hospital.

If you are looking to join a passionate team who places great value on putting people first, embedding Te Ao Maori in every-day practice, leading with kindness and achieving excellence together; then this may be the opportunity for you.Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is firmly grounded in the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and is committed to building a health system that serves all New Zealanders.About the RoleYou will be responsible forImplementation of a meaningful activities programme for our tangata whaiora group, working in conjunction with our Occupational Therapist and other staff.Assisting in the planning, organising, implementation and evaluation of the therapeutic programme on the ward that provides people opportunities to engage in psycho-educational, skills-based, social and leisure groupsAssist in the enhancement of quality of life and independence for people with significant mental health issues to encourage participation and rehabilitationIdeally you will have an outgoing personality and ability to engage and encourage others.Experience in a similar type role would be an assetFollows the principles of the Te Ara Tauwhirotanga Pathways that lead us to act with kindness Model of CareAbout the Team / Service / LocationThe Mental Health Inpatient Unit provides care for individuals (adults) with complex mental health needs requiring inpatient care.

About youThe successful candidate will have proven ability to build relationships, bring a range of abilities in supporting therapeutic activities (baking / cooking, arts and crafts, sports, promotion of socialization skills), be well organised and possess good time management skills.

You will be able to work alongside a skilled multi-disciplinary team.

An ability to connect and build a trusting relationship with people from a range of life experiences and cultural backgrounds is essential and a certificate in health and wellbeing or similar would be beneficial.Ability to connect and build a trusting relationship with people from a range of life experiences and cultural backgrounds Able to work unsupervised and to use your initiative A willingness to help those around you Organisational and time management skills Ability to work in an acute & changeable environment and ability to remain calm under pressure.
