About the role

The Southland Hospital Eye Department provides ophthalmology services to all of Southland so we require a dynamic, hardworking individual with excellent time management skills to become an integral part of our close-knit team.

We are seeking an ophthalmologist that knows the New Zealand health system intricately and the constraints we face within ophthalmology - so we welcome applications from a forward thinking, innovative ophthalmologist that loves challenges and working in a busy department.

This role is primarily based in Invercargill.

You :

• will be expected to participate in the on call roster, routine ophthalmology clinics and theatre
• will also need to be flexible with your scheduling
• must have completed your specialist training
• must be eligible or already hold vocational registration with the New Zealand Medical Council.

About you :

• Eligibility for vocational registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand
• FRANZCO or equivalent board certification (American board of Ophthalmology, FRCSC, FRCOphth)
• Excellent communication and time management skills

Salary range

This role belongs to the ASMS Collective Agreement and falls between Step 1 ($185,380) and Step 15 ($267,980) per annum pro-rata).
