This Auckland based company is a well-established Industrial Automation Integrator. They work with a number of well-known businesses across the manufacturing industry (food, beverage & dairy), as well as the water treatment industry. This is a stable employer who handles both project and ongoing service work.
Due to continued growth, they are looking for an automation engineer to join their food and beverage team. Clients are typically large manufacturing plants, and this is an exciting opportunity to work on sophisticated plant and equipment.
The Role
This is an Intermediate Automation Engineer opportunity.

You will be someone who can think as an engineer, look at the process and equipment to be automated, and convert this process to a well thought out and well-structured code for PLC, HMI & SCADA systems.
This role is part of the Factory Automation Team. You’ll focus largely on Food & Beverage and Manufacturing plant projects, where Allen Bradley and Citect SCADA are the most commonly used systems. You’ll also get the chance to work on some occasional projects with the wider team within water and dairy industries.
You will need to be capable of balancing long-term project work, whilst also providing ongoing service and fault-finding to key clients within the industry.
Ideal Skills and Experience:
- Tertiary qualification in Automation, Software, Mechatronics, Electrical, Process Engineering (or similar)
- 3+ years’ experience in industrial automation within a relevant sector: Food & Beverage, Dairy, General Manufacturing
- A strong programmer with PLC, SCADA, and HMI coding and configuration experience
- Must be proficient with Allen Bradley, and Citect SCADA
- Knowledge of other major automation platforms beneficial i.e. Schneider, Siemens, GE, Omron, ABB, or Beckhoff
- FAT, SAT, and Commissioning experience
- An engineering mindset – can understand and describe the process of automation
- Great communication skills
