Nau mai, haere mai ki Te Kura.
At Te Aho o Te Kura Pounamu (Te Kura), our akonga are always at the centre of what we do.
For more than a century, we've supported learners across Aotearoa — evolving from lessons once delivered on horseback to today's future-focused learning that can be done anywhere, anytime.
About this position
We're looking for a dedicated kaiako with expertise in English to join our Northern region, based in Whangarei.
In This Role You Will
Support akonga to engage deeply in learning that is aligned with their goals, passions, and interests.
Facilitate regular huinga ako (online and face-to-face) to provide pastoral care, connection, and personalised learning.
Provide constructive feedback and feedforward on akonga learning.
Collaborate with colleagues and whanau to create flexible, engaging learning experiences.
Have a genuine interest in learning and embracing te reo Maori, with a commitment to growing your skills.
About you
New Zealand teacher registration and a current practising certificate.
Strong knowledge of the English curriculum and assessment practices.
A calm, inclusive, and supportive approach to teaching and pastoral care.
Confidence using digital tools to connect with learners.
Enthusiasm for collaborative, values-driven teaching.
Our Values
Manaaki — showing respect, generosity, and care.
Whanaungatanga — building relationships and belonging.
Tika — acting fairly and honestly.
Akonga at the Centre — guiding every decision we make.
In return
You'll join a supportive, inclusive team where manaaki and whanaungatanga guide how we work.
We offer flexible working options, professional growth opportunities, and the chance to make a meaningful difference for akonga across Aotearoa.
