Job description

Overview

Are you a passionate Veterinary Nurse ready to take the next step in your career? This is a fantastic opportunity to join a modern, purpose-built clinic with state-of-the-art facilities, a supportive team, and a genuine focus on professional growth and development.

The Role

You’ll be working closely with a talented veterinary and nursing team, reporting to the Lead Veterinary Nurse. This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with occasional Saturday / on-call shifts on a rotating roster. It’s the perfect chance to join a dynamic, fun, and dedicated group of professionals who value teamwork, development, and excellent patient care.

In this role, you’ll have access to high-end technology, including in-house blood and urine analyzers, ultrasound, x-ray, and advanced monitoring equipment. If you thrive in a hands-on, fast-paced environment where nurses are empowered to use their full skill set - this is for you.

Responsibilities

  • Administering medications and anaesthesia with confidence.
  • Monitoring anaesthetics and patient recovery, responding to changes as needed.
  • Assisting with surgeries to ensure smooth and efficient processes.
  • Educating clients on treatment plans, procedures, and post-care.
  • Mentoring and guiding junior team members.
  • Collaborating with veterinarians and the wider team.
  • Maintaining records, managing supplies, and contributing to continuous improvements.

What’s On Offer

  • Competitive salary package
  • CPD and self-education support.
  • 6-monthly development reviews to help you achieve your goals.
  • Employee assistance programme available anytime.
  • Flexible working arrangements.
  • Annual flu vaccination.
  • Birthday leave
  • Long service leave and parental leave top-ups.
  • Wellness initiatives through a Connected Lives programme.
  • About You

  • Diploma (or equivalent) in Veterinary Nursing with at least 2 years’ experience.
  • Strong skills in anaesthesia and patient monitoring (interest in orthopaedics a bonus!).
  • Excellent communication skills to support both clients and colleagues.
  • A passion for patient care and strengthening the bond between pets and their families.
  • Current working rights in New Zealand.
  • Why You’ll Love It Here

Not only will you be part of a supportive, forward-thinking team, but you’ll also get to enjoy life in one of New Zealand’s most beautiful regions - the perfect balance of career growth and lifestyle.
