These positions are part of the regional training rotation programme with Te Whatu Ora – Health New Zealand Auckland Region Districts, comprising Te Whatu Ora – Health New Zealand Te Toka Tumai Auckland, Te Whatu Ora – Health New Zealand Waitemata, and Te Whatu Ora – Health New Zealand Counties Manukau Districts.

Why train as a non-SET Surgical Registrar in the Auckland Region :
Rotate through nine RACS surgical sub-specialties : Cardiothoracic Surgery, General Surgery, Neurosurgery, ORL / ENT, Orthopaedics, Paediatric Surgery, Plastic Surgery, Urology, Vascular Surgery.

Approved training reimbursements
Practice across three District Health Boards within a 30 km radius, many with national and supra-regional specialist services
Work in structured teams supported by SET trainees, Fellows, and Consultants
Mentorship and guidance from Consultants who are SET selectors, offering valuable feedback and advice for RACS SET Training program entry
Receive world-class training and supervision from renowned Consultants handling complex conditions
Serve a diverse patient population, with Auckland hosting nearly a third of New Zealand's population, providing opportunities to develop interpersonal, diagnostic, and surgical skills rapidly
Minimum of 6 months experience in surgical runs required
Eligibility for general scope registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand
