Permanent, full time MLS role based at Waikato Hospital Laboratory

Primarily based in Haematology department with rotation through Core laboratory depts

Roles will include 24 / 7 rostered shifts including public holidays and weekends

About the Role

Are you a registered Medical Laboratory Scientist looking for an exciting opportunity in a fast-paced, 24 / 7 environment?

Come and join our dynamic and supportive team working within the Waikato Haematology Laboratory.

The successful candidate will be responsible for performing a range of diagnostic tests, ensuring quality results, and contributing to patient care in a collaborative setting within our large, state-of-the-art tertiary hospital laboratory.

Our haematology team performs analysis in routine haematology, morphology, coagulation (including special testing), flow cytometry and haemoglobinopathy studies.

Future opportunities for specialist training within these sections may be available for candidates who demonstrate suitable skills.

While previous experience is desirable, new graduates are encouraged to apply.

About the Team / Service / Location

Our laboratory is an integral part of the wider laboratory services at Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora Waikato, servicing inpatients, outpatients and community patients of the Manawa Taki region.

The laboratory service is situated over five sites, our central laboratory at Waikato Hospital in Hamilton and our satellite laboratories in Tokoroa, Thames, Taumarunui and Te Kuiti hospitals.

About you

Registration with the Medical Science Council NZ and a current Annual Practising Certificate (APC) are essential

Up to date knowledge of laboratory practice is desired

Experience with current Haematology and Coagulation analysers is desirable

Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team

Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to perform effectively under pressure
