The opportunity
This leadership role is a great opportunity to lead the investigative / in-depth team to produce exceptional and engaging long-term current and consumer affairs content primarily for TVNZ's digital platforms (TVNZ+ and 1News.co.nz) that will extend our digital audience reach and accelerate TVNZ's digital revenue.
You will be expected to commission, and story produce content, in line with all NCA EP roles for our digital platforms.
As a strong people leader, you will lead the team to help story produce engaging, current and consumer affairs content that is innovative, accurate, compelling and balanced.
Content that will resonate with our digital audiences and appeal to our advertising partners.
The content this team creates will live predominantly on TVNZ+ and 1News.co.nz, but should also be available to TVNZ's linear shows as and when appropriate.
What we're looking for
To succeed in this role, first and foremost you'll be a person who has a wealth of experience in current affairs, editorial oversight, and an exceptional people leader.
Strong reporting, producing and research experience delivered across multiple mediums.
Proven ability to craft engaging news and current affairs stories that will hold the viewer or reader's attention from start to finish - from a video and a text perspective.
Ability to analyse complex information from multiple perspectives.
Technical proficiency in shooting, editing and social media engagement.
Understanding of media law and legal risk, as well as editorial standards (BSA)
Willingness to learn and implement new technologies with support.
Demonstrated ability to work across multiple shows and platforms.
Adaptable to an ever changing and evolving environment; solution focused leader with a professional, calm, can do attitude.
Ability to work within a budget and monitor revenue and spend targets.
