  • We're offering a competitive salary starting from $106,416 to $117,782, depending on experience
  • Mō te tūnga  | About the role

    The purpose of this role is to assess and respond to claims related to children and young people who have experienced abuse whilst in the care of Oranga Tamariki.

    A key responsibility is to ensure the support is child centric. This involves promoting the wellbeing of children and to reflect their views in all claims activities. The role requires a considered and calm approach during conversations about difficult experiences. The role will include providing expert knowledge and guidance to inform assessments. It also requires strong advocacy on behalf of individuals in promoting their needs to enable the delivery of a suite of responses.

    This role is central to ensuring a kind and caring response which supports a journey of healing in addressing the impacts of abuse. The ideal candidate will have a strong attention to detail, have developed and embedded processes (ideally in a large organisation) and be able to collaborate with internal business groups and external stakeholders. Your aptitude to challenge the status quo along with your ability to remain calm under pressure will be the key to your success!

    Key requirements of the role include but not limited to :

    • Excellent communicator, with the ability to translate complex information and ideas into a language that can be understood by a wide range of people and produce high quality written work
    • A passion and commitment for engaging with and advocating for children and young people
    • Ability to engaging with children and young people as well as engaging with family / whānau and wider family networks
    • Understanding and appreciation of cross-cultural issues and concerns, in particular; knowledge of tikanga Māori, and Pacific peoples' culture
    • Strong relationship management skills
