We’re excited to offer an opportunity to join the Hansard team as a Hansard Editor – a role that sits at the very heart of Parliament.

Mō te tūnga | About the role :

As a Hansard Editor, you’ll be part of the team responsible for transcribing and editing parliamentary debates and select committee meetings – helping to create the official historical record of Parliament. This is a unique opportunity to deepen your understanding of the parliamentary environment while contributing to a vital public service.

We have a permanent position available, and we’re keen to hear from candidates who are looking to grow their skills and take on a new challenge.

Tō kete | What you will bring :

• Strong editorial skills and a sharp eye for detail.
• Confident with spelling, grammar, and typing at speed.
• Can work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
• Exercises sound judgment and knows when to elevate.
• Works collaboratively and pragmatically.
• Brings knowledge of te reo Māori (advantageous but not essential).

Evening work is required periodically. Evening work will commence after an initial training period (roughly six months).

Salary range : $70,125 – $77,520 per annum (based on skills and experience). The full salary band extends beyond this to support progression over time.
