  • Join our team in protecting New Zealand's natural environment through geospatial technology.

This entry-level position offers an exciting opportunity to develop your GIS skills while contributing to critical conservation programmes.You will work with geospatial data to primarily support our crown property team, with exposure to various national conservation programmes, including the Kauri Dieback project (protecting native trees), and the Wilding Pine and Wallaby Eradication programmes.

Your work will involve data collection, creating dashboards, basic analysis, reporting, and data visualisation.

Full training and mentorship will be provided.

  • Key Responsibilities :
  • Assist with analysing and interpreting geospatial data
  • Create maps and visualisations to support project objectives
  • Learn and apply GIS tools to conservation challenges
  • Provide technical support to team members as your skills develop
  • Contribute to data collection and reporting activities

  • Foundational knowledge of ArcGIS and / or desktop GIS (ArcGIS Pro or QGIS)
  • Basic understanding of spatial analysis concepts
  • Good analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work in a team
  • Enthusiasm for learning and developing GIS expertise
  • Desirable :
  • Exposure to Python programming
  • Familiarity with FME (Feature Manipulation Engine)
  • Interest in conservation or biosecurity work
  • Any experience with data visualisation or mapping projects
  • Demonstrated engagement and collaboration skillsThe annual full-time salary range for this role is $76,000 to $87,000 depending on skills and experience :
