Communications, Navigation and Surveillance (CNS) Technical Specialist

We are seeking a Technical Specialist within the Aeronautical Services Unit to provide proactive oversight of a broad range of issues focusing on Aeronautical Telecommunication Services such as communication, navigation, surveillance and air traffic management systems.

There will be a requirement to conduct inspection and monitoring activity on site at certificated and non-certificated aerodromes and the associated operational environment.

This role reports to the Team Leader Aeronautical Services and works collaboratively within a small team of aviation specialists to influence positive aviation safety outcomes and engage both domestically and internationally with aviation organisations where appropriate, to ensure safety and the CAA regulatory capability is maintained.

Responsibilities

Provide proactive oversight of Aeronautical Telecommunication Services (CNS) including communication, navigation, surveillance and ATM systems.

Conduct inspection and monitoring activity on site at certificated and non-certificated aerodromes and the associated operational environment.

Collaborate with the Aeronautical Services team to influence aviation safety outcomes and engage with domestic and international organisations as appropriate.

What You'll Bring

Proven knowledge of Aeronautical Telecommunications, Air Navigation or Air Traffic Management Systems.

Knowledge in aviation risk assessment.

Preferably experience in monitoring, inspection and certification activities.

Sound written and oral communication skills.

Hold or has held a professional aviation license or qualification (e.g., Engineering, Air Traffic Control or equivalent).

Experience in leading or facilitating meetings and workshops.

Ability to demonstrate good judgement and sound decision making with integrity and objectivity.

The ability to build professional and technical credibility within the CAA, industry and international organisations.

Salary

The salary band for this position is circa $141,751.

Starting salaries will be based on knowledge, skills and experience the successful candidate brings to the role, and relativities within the team and broader Authority.
