Job Description
Join AECOM’s Auckland Aviation team as a Principal Project Manager / Design Manager, leading the delivery of complex airport and aviation infrastructure projects. In this hands‑on, client‑facing role, you’ll manage multidisciplinary design teams, oversee project programmes and budgets, and ensure technical excellence from concept to completion.
- Deliver and coordinate aviation infrastructure projects across New Zealand airports and select Pacific and Australian programmes.
- Guide design teams day‑to‑day, ensuring designs meet technical, regulatory, and operational requirements.
- Maintain strong client engagement, providing technical advice and oversight while managing project progress and outcomes.
- Manage aviation programme delivery, including schedules, budgets, and quality assurance for primarily private‑sector projects.
- Hands on technical design when and where needed amongst guiding teams.
Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with a minimum of 12 years’ experience in design and project delivery.Proven record of delivering large‑scale projects on time, within budget, and aligned with client expectations.Strong background in contract administration, stakeholder engagement, and building enduring client relationships.Comprehensive understanding of construction methodologies, project timeframes, and OH&S best practices, with a strong commitment to safety.Experience in airport infrastructure and master planning highly advantageous.Benefits
