Overview
Our System Operator supports the wholesale electricity market and power system security in real time.
The Power Systems group provides power system analysis, engineering, risk and assurance management to enable Transpower to meet principal performance obligations.
The Engineering Assurance team focuses on providing commissioning and testing guidance to Asset Owners to confirm asset performance against Code obligations and power system requirements.

Join a team that collaborates with electricity industry participants to understand asset performance against obligations and study future power system risks and technologies.
Responsibilities
Support the Engineering Assurance team to guide participants on their compliance with the Electricity Industry Participation Code, particularly generation asset owners, and manage System Operator interactions with commissioning and testing assets; investigate power system events as needed.
Develop and support engineers within the Group by participating in and leading training and coaching to uplift technical and behavioural capabilities.
What you will bring
A bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, Power Electronics or a related field
7+ years of experience in power system operations, commissioning and testing of assets connecting to a power system
Experience conducting power system analysis and simulations, including preparing / validating powerflow cases in PowerFactory (or similar)
Well-developed verbal and written communication skills and experience influencing to ensure mutually beneficial outcomes
Experience providing timely, accurate engineering support and advice to inform operational decisions and compliance
Demonstrated ability to coach and mentor engineers
Desirable
Knowledge / experience in system integration assessments for inverter-based resources using PSCAD / EMT simulations
Experience in professional affiliations or industry groups (e.g., CIGRE, IEEE, CPEng) or progress towards this
Knowledge of compliance assessment against the Electricity Industry Participation Code 2010
