About UsThe Biochemistry Department at the University of Otago is a large research and teaching department.
We teach biochemistry, genetics, plant biotechnology and related subjects to undergraduate and postgraduate students and conduct research into the molecular basis of life.The RoleThis postdoctoral project, based within the Rare Disorder Genetics Lab, involves identifying and analysing novel genetic variants causing developmental disorders.
Variants will be identified through exome and genome sequencing datasets and investigated using a variety of molecular biology approaches examining consequences to transcripts, proteins and at a cellular level.You will coordinate the organisation of clinical and genetic data, ensuring timely responses to clinician queries, and manage sample information.
You will also assist with research supervision within the wider Bicknell group.Skills and ExperienceA PhD in molecular biology or a related discipline.Preferred - demonstrated experience of exome / genome sequencing analysis.Organised, methodical, proactive, with excellent attention to detail.Experience supervising junior students in the lab.Further DetailsThis is a full-time (1 FTE), fixed-term position for 10 months located in Otepoti, Dunedin, with a start date of 1 December
The salary for this position is $92,350 per annum.
