Piggery Manager
We are seeking a capable and motivated Piggery Manager to oversee the daily operations of our well-established, farrow-to-finish piggery. The unit runs approximately 200 breeding sows and maintains around 2,500 animals on site at any one time, producing an average of 80‑100 baconer pigs per week. This is a key leadership role responsible for maintaining high production standards, staff coordination, and animal welfare across all stages of the production system.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee breeding, farrowing, and growing operations
- Manage staff, training, and rosters. 3 FTEs
- Maintain high standards of animal health, welfare, hygiene, and biosecurity
- Record and analyse production data to drive performance
- Liaise with nutrition, veterinary, and maintenance service providers
- Manage the disposal of effluent to land
- Maintain a safe workplace for animals and people.
Ideal Candidate
Proven experience in pig production or intensive livestock management 3+ yearsStrong leadership and communication and coaching skillsAbility to manage staff and workflow efficientlyPractical problem‑solving skills and attention to detailCompetent with computer‑based recording systemsA strong lead from the front work ethicWelding, engineering, building, or general handyman skills are highly desirable.We Offer
