About the Role

We have an exciting opportunity for a Registered Psychologist to work within Hospital and Specialist Services.

You will provide psychological assessment, consultation and treatment for clients under medical services with chronic health conditions and mental health concerns impacting their ability to manage their health condition.

In this role, you'll deliver evidence-based techniques; collaborating with the health care teams in an outpatient setting to develop patient-centred care that addresses the client psychological needs, improving health and wellbeing.

A component of the role (0.1 FTE) is also within the Cancer Psychosocial Support Service to provide psychologist support to individuals and their whanau affected by cancer in the Marlborough region.

This is a fixed term role for 12 months covering parental leave, working 80 hours per fortnight (1.0 FTE), Monday to Friday between the hours of 6.00 AM and 6.00 PM.

About the Team / Service / Location

The Health Psychology service is a sole practitioner team that works out of the Nelson Hospital site with outreach clinics to Richmond and Motueka as required.

The clinic is housed within Mental Health services and has professional linkages to other psychologists for professional and collegial support.

The Cancer Psychosocial Psychology Support team are a multidisciplinary team committed to delivering high-quality, patient-centred care that prioritises the physical, emotional, and social wellbeing of our patients and plays a vital role in helping patients and families navigate the challenges of cancer treatment and recovery.

About you

The Clinical / Health Psychologist role has been designed for an experienced clinician who has excellent interpersonal skills and clinical expertise in working with people with chronic health conditions.

They will be able to provide responsive, holistic, person-centred and recovery-focused care, demonstrating a commitment to reducing health inequities.

You will have not less than 12 months' experience in health or clinical psychology (including practicum experience during training), and experience in therapy with people with physical health difficulties and concerns.

The successful candidate must be eligible to work in New Zealand or hold a valid NZ visa at the time of applying.
