About the Role
The role is responsible for managing the systems, processes, and resources that support staff in meeting the needs of patients and Tangata Whaiora.
It oversees people, operations, and resources within a defined area to ensure the service delivered is consistently high in quality.
The role holds accountability for one or more care areas and provides clinical leadership to the multidisciplinary team.
It also offers professional leadership to the nursing team by supporting the development of nursing practice, maintaining service standards, and monitoring quality.
The role contributes to the strategic direction of its allocated care areas, builds a professional and respectful workplace culture, and encourages clear communication.
It also uses ward-level data to monitor outcomes and support both staff safety and patient safety.

About the Service
OPR3 is a 26-bedded Acute Medical Ward and part of the Medicine, ED and OPR Directorate at Health NZ Waikato.
OPR3 specialises in a wide range of medical conditions for patients over 16 years of age.
Our purpose is to provide short term, assessment, monitoring and treatments for patients with serious or unstable medical conditions and safely transition them back into their home
About you
Registration with the Nursing Council of New
Expert level on the Nurses Professional Development and Recognition Programme (PDRP) or if appropriate has achieved senior nurse level on the Senior Nurses PDRP.
7+ years experience in leadership in a complex health-related environment with Medicine and Older Persons, Rehabilitation clinical expertise.
A minimum of 5 years nursing experience
Demonstrated excellent communication and leadership skills
Proven team building and leadership strengths
Completed or is undertaking postgraduate study
Previous experience working within a senior nurse role
Focus on staff safety and wellbeing, patient safety and quality improvement
Support staff to provide excellent clinical care, as their main priority
Show evidence of leading change and positively influencing service culture
Knowledge and understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi
The successful candidate will :
Have competency with te ao Maori, tikanga, and te reo Maori or a commitment to starting their journey and taking ownership of their learning and growth.
Be able to demonstrate leadership experience in terms of managing complex dynamics associated with multi-professional groups.
Be able to assess and make effective decisions under pressure in complex situations and use their own judgement to problem solve.
