Head Shepherd / 2Ic

Lone Star Farms is seeking a motivated Head Shepherd / 2IC to join the team at Barewood Station, a 5,500ha (effective) breeding operation located next to the Taieri Gorge, in-land Dunedin.

This high-performing farm winters around 25,000 stock units and includes 200 Angus cows, 15,500 Headwater ewes and 4,500 Hoggets.

Plus a trading operation of 500 R1-R2 cattle.

We are seeking a person who has :

3+ years working as an Experienced Shepherd in New Zealand

A team of 4-6 competent working dogs

Experience with feed planning, grazing systems and rotations

Ability to communicate with and manage staff is a must

Competent with computer use including EID tech

A willingness to embrace technology

Strong record of high stock performance and animal welfare

High-level stockmanship and attention to detail
