Located 10 minutes’ drive south of Rotorua CBD, Red Stag Timber is an industry leader when it comes to producing quality structural timber products. The Company operates New Zealand’s largest sawmill and is a well-established and successful business, employing over 400 staff & contractors.

An opportunity has arisen for a Maintenance Fitter with eyes set on career progression to join our Maintenance team on a permanent basis on the Weekend Shift. This is a hands‑on position to apply sound mechanical maintenance process knowledge, and work with our experienced Weekend Maintenance Team. The team provides critical support to ensure plant and machinery is maintained effectively, ensuring reliability to run production shifts in all operational areas particularly primary processing.

To be successful you will :

• Hold a NZ recognised trade qualification in Mechanical Engineering – Fitting / Turning & Diagnostics;
• Have a minimum 8+ years of recent work experience in heavy industrial plant;
• Be skilled in hydraulics, pneumatics, fabrication, bearing fitment, setup and alignment, mechanical fitting, diagnostics etc.;
• Work to and interpret mechanical drawings and deliver reliable, high quality work;
• Have natural leadership skills and have confident interpersonal skills;
• Demonstrate an essential “Safety First” attitude, leading by example;
• Previous experience in a Sawmill or timber processing plant would be advantageous.

Hours of work for this position are Fri day – Monday, 6.00am – 4.30pm, with additional hours as overtime (T1.5) if required. Work hours on a Saturday and Sunday attract premium rates (T1.33).

Tuesday to Thursday are regular rostered days off.
