The Te Runanga o Ngai Tahu nomination and appointment process is being undertaken to appoint a Ngai Tahu representative to the Okeina / Okains Bay Reserve Management Committee.
Purpose of the Committee
The purpose of the Okeina / Okains Bay Reserve Management Committee is :
To co-manage the site.
To have direct input into reserve maintenance planning and development.
Purpose of the role
The purpose of this role is to represent the Ngai Tahu perspective to the Okeina / Okains Bay Reserve Management Committee ensuring that any issues of tribal significance are reported to Te Runanga o Ngai Tahu while also ensuring that tribal matters of significance are represented to the Okeina / Okains Bay Reserve Management Committee.
Required Skills, Experience And Qualifications
Okeina / Okains Bay Reserve is to be treated as if it were a recreation reserve.
The Committee is to control and manage Okeina / Okains Bay in a way that meets the requirements of the Reserves Act 1977, the Deed of Settlement, the Council and Te Runanga including the following matters :
Become familiar with the agreements contained in the Deed of Settlement and the Act and too all other relevant legislation such as the Reserves Act
Co-manage the land in accordance with the Management Plan, acknowledging that Te Runanga are owners of the land
Ensuring the values of Ngai Tahu are taken into consideration when making any decisions under the delegated authority
Support the update of the Management Plan to reflect the values of mana whenua

Meeting details
Hui will be held regularly with not more than three months between hui.
