Add expected salary to your profile for insights
Join our Hamilton design team creating digital experiences for clients across New Zealand and internationally. You'll work on diverse projects from websites to custom software, mentored by our Design Team Lead while owning your client projects in our fast-paced, innovative agency environment.
What You'll Be Doing
Leading design on client projects.
You’ll typically be the designer on a project, working closely with project managers, business analysts, and developers to deliver solutions that genuinely improve how people interact with technology. Our Senior UX Designer mentors the team and helps navigate complex challenges, but you'll own your design decisions day-to-day. You’ll take on support tickets to improve and extend existing solutions by unpacking what clients are really asking for and working with developers to find the best solution. Some projects you’ll see all the way through from quote to launch and adopt others midway by turning UX research and wireframes into polished visual designs.
Building relationships that drive results.
Get to know clients and their users deeply. Sometimes you'll need to push back when what they're asking for isn't what their users actually need—agency life means balancing stakeholder expectations with user outcomes, and it's challenging but incredibly rewarding when you get it right.
Designing across industries and platforms.
One week you might be wireframing a healthcare app, the next creating interactive data visualisations for a council. Projects range from websites to custom software, each with different constraints, timelines, and success metrics.
Collaborating with technical teams.
Work alongside developers who value design input and often bring you in to refine their technical concepts, validate UX approaches, and polish interfaces. You'll create Figma prototypes and design systems, then work together to resolve final implementation details.
Embracing AI as a competitive advantage.
We use tools like TeamGPT, Copilot, Claude, v0, Lovable, and Figma AI daily. You don't need to be an expert yet, but understanding how AI offers value and exploring ways to use it to our advantage is essential for staying ahead in this industry.
What Makes You Right for This
Strong visual design skills with UX thinking. You create interfaces that look great and solve real problems, understanding that beautiful isn't enough—it needs to work for actual users.
Natural collaborator and communicator. You're comfortable presenting concepts, facilitating workshops, and building trust with clients through clear communication and collaborative problem-solving.
Agency-ready mindset. You thrive in a fast-paced, commercial environment where client success drives everything we do. You understand that variety and context-switching between different projects and industries keeps the work exciting.
AI-curious and adaptable. You're excited about exploring how emerging tools can enhance your design process and eager to experiment with new approaches as the industry evolves.
