About the role :
We are seeking to appoint new Trustees, for the Central Plains Water Trust (CPWT). Established by Selwyn District Council and Christchurch City Council, The CPW Trust is a charitable trust holding water consents for Central Plains Water Limited irrigation activities.
Meeting bi-monthly, this trust is made up of Trustees with a broad range of skills and experience in areas such as governance, agriculture, commerce, and resource management.
The main responsibilities of the Trustees are :
- Reporting to the SDC and CCC joint committee on the Trusts strategic objectives and performance.
- Preparation and reporting on the annual sustainability report (prepared on behalf by an external consultant). This is a report prepared for the general community as required by the consent and contains reference to land and water use, water quality, water used and water access from the river and the lake.
- Give consideration to a monitoring report prepared by CPW staff each quarter.
- Monitoring and reporting on resource consent compliance.
- Reflecting on nitrate loading and to consider and encourage appropriate land usage.
- Delivering on public education on the scheme and its benefits in relation to water and sustainable agricultural development.
